Child Support

So I get to work this morning and the first thing I find out is that one of the other workers has to go to court because his child support isn't being paid. This is supposed to come out of his check every week, at least it shows it on his pay stub. So where's the money going?

I have come the conclusion that my boss believes he is above the law. There is NOTHING he won't do. One of these days you would think it has to catch up to him.

Richest Man In The World

So here it is, story of the year. Some future customers of ours flew in today from Puerto Rico to take a look at our facility, negotiate, and to just let us know everything that they were looking for. One of the things they wanted was a van which we would customize. Since we didn't have any we told some local dealership we were looking to get a HUGE order and might possibly need 100 vans just so they would let us borrow one for the day. Even if we get the order we would really only need 3.

So they show up and since we have no production going on they made up a story about how this is just the R&D facility and that our manufacturing plant was in another location. That worked out well for us since we give a false address for our company on our website which just happened to be where these guys were driving to until we called them this morning and told them they were heading to the wrong address.

As they were having their meeting we find out the guys that are here, their boss, is the world's richest man, Carlos Slim Helu. So as you know in my last post they kind of operation we are running. So I can only imagine what will happen if this deal goes bad since these guys basically run all telecommunications in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. So does my boss think he can take these guys money and not follow through? We will find out, but I don't want to be around when that time comes.

Oh we are not done yet. So during the meeting they start talking about cost. Has anyone ever seen the episode of 2 1/2 men where Charlie tried to bribe Jake with money to get him to take bale lessons. Well Jake says he wants $1000 and Charlie says I'll give you $500, and Allen says to Jake "split the difference" so Jake says $250. Yea it's funny but not in real life when your company is broke. So it went like this. These guys offer us a decent amount thinking we would come back with a higher price like a normal negotiation. So our owner says to them, "I can beat that, how about this much" which was quite a bit lower. WOW Thats all I could say. I'm sure there will be more to come tomorrow.

Let me catch you up.

There are way to many stories to tell but I'll try and catch everyone up by letting you know what has happened in just the past week.

So I work at a company who is in a very bad financial situation right now. The owner has filed bankruptcy on 5 other companies which produced exactly the same thing as we do now. Now I'm not a master at business but I think we have a very good product that we can make money off of and we always seem to have orders so I can't explain why we would need to file bankruptcy so many times unless someone was taking the money and running away. I'll let you decide all that once we get going here.

So after a brief history lets get to what has happened just last week. As of right now everyone in the office and plant are holding at least 2 payroll checks. One of our salesmen was out to lunch the other day and a sales call came in that was in his area. The owner took the call since he was gone. He took the call and apparently was able to talk the guy into pre-paying for his product. Well the salesmen came back and found out what had happened and since the owner didn't feel it was necessary to tell him about the deal the salesmen called the customer to find out what was said. The next day the customer decided to cancel the payment and said he was going to go out and get more quotes. Now granted the salesmen shouldn't have done what he did. There was a more appropriate way of conducting business but at the same time can you condone the owner for trying to steal someone's money?
Yes I do mean stealing someone's money because right now that is all we are doing. We have NO production employees building anything and we have all kinds of orders and half of them have already pre-paid. We are not even buying parts to build anything, but how could we, we have no money. So our "plan" is to con more people into pre-paying for their product so we can pay ourselves. And after we do that we will be out of that money and we will have to do it all over again tomorrow.
Well the owner was so mad at the salesmen he called him up to his office and started cussing him out, so the salesmen and the owner went back and forth until the salesmen was fired. Let me remind you he just fired someone he wasn't even paying.
So now it's a new week and wouldn't you know it, that same salesmen is back. Apparently the owner found out that you can't put employees in a bad situation aka;"make them work and not pay them", cuss them out, and then fire them.

I have another good story developing right now so stay tuned later today.
